Objective
To allow a single source of addressable advertising campaigns to be delivered to two independent platforms, preparing and routing Ad copy, and managing the necessary in-band signalling to different endpoints.
Solution
BCi Digital’s Ocelot platform was already providing the ability to allow addressable campaigns on our customer’s channels, carried on Sky, utilising the Sky AdSmart proprietary signalling. Ocelot acts as a prime integration point between the customer’s local Ad Sales and scheduling platform, and Sky’s broadcast headend. Ocelot manages campaign data preparation and schedules, Ad copy delivery, plus generating the necessary signalling and metadata to control Sky’s encoders.
The customer needed to extend this addressable advertising to their in-country cable platform, and Ocelot was adapted to manage the parallel delivery of Ad copy, and campaign data to the second system, and provide the signalling to the additional cable head-end, ensuring the continued accuracy of placement and signalling on both platforms.
Either platform, or indeed channel, can be individually controlled in the event of maintenance; Ocelot provides a view on every Ad spot and event, on a per encoder, channel or platform basis.
Outcome
The satisfied customer is able to initiate addressable advertising campaigns within their Ad sales system; Ocelot ensures that it is delivered across the two platforms, maintaining isolation where necessary for maintenance or error, whilst offering a unified view on the two different systems.
